Prayer. Yes he is listening.

This past week, I was blessed to share a message that has been on my heart about prayer.

A lot of people feel like they pray, and then nothing happens. I have struggled with this myself, so I will share a short synopsis of what I have found that is helpful.

If you feel like God is not listening;

#1. Pray without ceasing.

You may feel like God is not listening, but he is. Sometimes he doesn’t answer in our time. Don’t get discouraged. Keep praying. Tell him what you need and how you are struggling. (Luke 11:9-12)

#2. Communicate with him how you are feeling.

In any relationship, you have to tell the other person how you are feeling. Don’t hold that information back when speaking with God.

#3. Worship, Worship, Worship!

One of the best ways to get spiritually filled when you are feeling down is to worship! Sometimes I sing praises as I am working. Scripture teaches that God inhabites the praises of his people.

#4. Reach out.

Reach out to someone from the church body that will pray with you. This is one of the reasons God created the church, so we wouldn’t be alone in times of spiritual struggle. Reach out to a pastor or strong prayer warrior and ask them to join with you! (Matthew 18:19-20)

Feeling spiritually disconnected usually includes some sort of sadness or depression as well. That is why it’s important to make sure you connect with someone who can walk with you through these difficult seasons. Most importantly, don’t hide out. Don’t stop going to church or stop communicating with others because you are struggling. It’s easy to do this, and it’s a great tool used by the enemy to distract you from connecting with the Lord. Don’t fall for it!!

These small steps really helped me when I felt like God wasn’t hearing me. Stay strong, God is at work, even when we can’t see it.

What do you think?

Till next week,
