Recently, I have been doing a in depth study of the Pentateuch, the books of law in the Old Testament. (Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers & Deuteronomy)
Last night, as I was reading through the book of Leviticus, I was again somewhat alarmed by the rules that God had laid out for the people of Israel to follow. In this book, which is often overlooked because of the dryness of the instructive writing style Moses is using, God is preparing to live among his people. therefore he is mapping out how they should live Holy and honorable lives. He teaches them to turn from idolatry, sexual sin, homosexuality, dishonesty, murder and a plethora of other things.
That got me thinking.
How did we get from there, to where we are as a culture today?
I mean, all through out the scriptures (New and Old Testaments) God and his son Jesus teach us, how to live holy, honest lives.
And that’s clearly not what is going on in 2018.
We live in a selfish, dirty, hateful world, that embraces the lifestyles that the scriptures specifically teach against!
Our culture has grown to believe that we are more superior than any God could ever be. We live lifestyles that focus on the “Me first” mentality. We no longer look out for each other, we specifically want to know “what’s in it for me??”
I hate writing like this. It hurts my heart to see what’s going on in out world. But if People of faith don’t stand up and call a spade a spade…. Who will?
Just yesterday, I learned of another school shooting.
It’s heart wrenching.
But this is the world we have created. We have successfully removed God out of our culture, and now live in a dark, scary lonely world.
Is there hope? Yes, There is hope.
There is a remnant.
Romans 11:5-6 (MSG)
There’s a fiercely loyal minority still—not many, perhaps, but probably more than you think. They’re holding on, not because of what they think they’re going to get out of it, but because they’re convinced of God’s grace and purpose in choosing them. If they were only thinking of their own immediate self-interest, they would have left long ago.
Are you tired of this old worn out way of life?
You have the ability to change our culture. You are the “Loyal Minority” that Paul speaks about in our scripture above.
Jesus Christ sacrificed himself for all of us so we wouldn’t have to live this way. All you have to do is ask him to change your life, then believe he will do it.
Are you a world changer??
Till next week,
