Mud.

“Don’t avoid the mission cause you are scared of a little mud.”

“Always be ready to speak up and tell anyone who asks why you’re living the way you are, and always with the utmost courtesy. Keep a clear conscience before God so that when people throw mud at you, none of it will stick. They’ll end up realizing that they’re the ones who need a bath.” 1 Peter 3:15-18 MSG

I love this piece of scripture. It reminds me that every day, I need to be prepared to share the message of the good news I have stored in my heart.
I remember many years ago, I use to get angry at people who wanted to share their story of salvation with me. One particular time as a teenager I was at a youth retreat and A young man stepped out in faith and shared how God had changed his life. I quickly responded in anger and blew him off as fast as I could. That however, could not deter this young man. He steadfastly reminded me every time he saw me. that he loved me and so did Jesus. As annoying as I thought he was at the time, his persistence stayed with me for many years. “Why would this kid continue to harass me” I thought. Looking back however, God was using this young man to chip away at the rough exterior of my heart.
This young man serves as an example of what Peter was teaching in our scripture for today. We are disciples that must be prepared to share our faith at a moments notice. If we let one opportunity to tell someone about our relationship with Jesus pass by, that person could be lost forever.
Sometimes stepping out in faith is tough, and sometimes the response that we receive may not be what we are expecting. However, the eternal reward both for you, and the person you are trying to reach is worth the work!
What do you think?
Till next week,
PJ
